Jesse Jackson
Jesse Jackson was born on October 8, 1941. He became involved in the civil rights movement while an undergraduate. He went to Selma, Alabama in 1965 to march with Martin Luther King Jr.. He later became a leading national spokesman for African-Americans. He traveled to Memphis with Martin Luther King Jr., where King was assassinated. Although he helped the movement many people believed he was out for himself. He founded Operation PUSH (People United to Save Humanity) a few years after Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination. He was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2000 for his efforts.
