George Wallace
George Wallace was born on August 25, 1919. He strongly opposed integration. He didn't think African-Americans should be able to vote, serve on juries, or hold public offices. He was a two term governor in the state of Alabama. He opposed the Civil Rights program due to the infringement on state's rights. He had the head of the Ku Klux Klan at the time write his speeches in the 1962 election. Wallace blocked the enrollment of African-American students at the University of Alabama. This made hime a national figure against civil rights.
